The AEW originals hold a special place in the All Elite fanbase, but Darby Allin and a certain two-time champion are widely regarded as two of the most beloved babyfaces on the roster, with both being billed as the face of the company at times. Now a potential scenario has been pitched that would begin with a hot tag team run, and end with a dark heel turn.
The Daredevil found his biggest AEW ally in Sting, but he's also formed alliances with names like Orange Cassidy. The All Elite fan-favorites have defended the company from day one, and now they are faced with battling Jon Moxley and the takeover led by the World Champion. After the massacre of Bryan Danielson closed WrestleDream, a dejected Darby and Orange looked on in disbelief.
Cassidy and Allin could lead the charge against The Blackpool Combat Club, according to Matthew Rehwoldt, aka Aiden English. Speaking on the REBOOKED Wrestling Podcast, the current TNA commentator made a Fight Club comparison, likening Darby to Brad Pitt's Tyler Durden character and Cassidy to Edward Norton's The Narrator.
"What if Darby Allin is the Tyler Durden to Orange Cassidy's Ed Norton? Like, 'Wake the F up... we gotta bring out another side of you. I get it, you don't care, there's a lot to not care about, but hot-damn, sometimes you got to throw your hand in the fire, pour the lye on your damn wound, and you gotta feel something!' And maybe he wakens that up and the two of them kind of lead the charge together," Darby Allin said. [From 32:41 to 33:08]
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
English continued and discussed a heel turn by Allin. The potential shocker would come after the AEW originals find success against Moxley and his crew.
"Because I think they both fill that role of these young guys who were built in AEW, and then maybe this could even lead to, ultimately they're successful, but it does lead to a Darby heel turn down the line as a result of something blowing up there between the two of them, but in this story maybe they can help each other, kind of," Aiden English said. [From 33:09 to 33:30]
Allin and The King Of Sloth Style have teamed up 11 times since 2020, but they have never faced off in singles action. Their last time teaming came on Dynamite in July 2023, where they were defeated by Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia in the semi-finals of AEW's Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament.
