Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood claims he pitched a legendary tag team's surprise arrival in Tony Khan-led All Elite Wrestling. The FTR member was talking about the Rock N' Roll Express.

The legendary tag team of Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson (The Rock N' Roll Express) appeared on AEW television in 2019 and 2020. The duo is set to return to the Jacksonville-based promotion on the January 4, episode of Collision and the January 22, edition of Dynamite.

During a recent interview with WrestleZone, Dax Harwood revealed that he pitched the idea bring The Rock N' Roll Express to All Elite Wrestling to Khan. He noted how the promotion could only get them for Charlotte and WWE barely promoted them as they weren't created by Vince McMahon.

“I pitched to Tony [Khan] to bring Rock ‘n’ Roll, I wanted to bring them to Asheville and Charlotte, but we could only get them for Charlotte, which is great. Having Ricky and Robert there, they could be so easily forgotten about because WWE, they haven’t, I don’t want to say doesn’t because I don’t know the current regime, but they haven’t liked to promote and show what wasn’t a WWE product. Ricky and Robert never were, aside from a few months in ‘92 and again in ‘98, aside from a couple of months, they weren’t part of the WWE, so it’s easy to forget how great they were."

The FTR member further said that the Rock N' Roll Express was the greatest babyface tag team of all time:

"But they were, in my opinion, they were the greatest babyface tag team of all time, I would put them one and two with greatest tag team of all time, in my opinion, Midnight Express are the greatest tag team of all time. But Ricky Morton, the greatest babyface, if you watch him, he is the greatest babyface.” [H/T:PWMania]

Dax Harwood reveals he asked Tony Khan to replace FTR in a recent AEW match

FTR is one of the most decorated tag teams in professional wrestling. They are former AEW World Tag Team Champions and recently formed an alliance with Adam Copeland in the Jacksonville-based promotion. One-half of FTR, Dax Harwood recently spoke about their absence from AEW Full Gear's World Tag Team Championship match.

In the same interview, Dax Harwood revealed that he and Cash Wheeler asked Tony Khan to replace them with The Outrunners in the match which also included the House of Black and The Acclaimed.

"I went to Tony and said, ‘Hey man, these guys have worked their a**e* off. They deserve that spot. Take us out and put them in.’ And he did. He agreed with me.” [H/T Ringside News]

We will have to wait and see if The Outrunners wins the AEW World Tag Team Championship in 2025.
