The fans in attendance for AEW Collision tonight at the Hammerstein Ballroom ridiculed a former WWE superstar by throwing toilet paper at him during his entrance. Fans online reacted to this and expressed how they enjoyed the entire moment.
Ricochet has been someone in AEW who has hinted at turning heel over the past few weeks. He has become more arrogant, and fans have begun to express their disappointment by booing him during some of his recent matches.
During tonight's opening contest, he faced off against Will Ospreay as part of the AEW Continental Classic. During the former NXT star's entrance, he saw several rolls of tissue being thrown at him. He retaliated and even threw some back at the crowd. Throughout the whole match, he played the heel and even went as far as cheating just to beat Ospreay.
A WWE Hall of Famer isn't a John Cena fan. More details HERE
A lot of fans enjoyed the atmosphere at the beginning of the show, with many mentioning how it had the same vibes as ECW's One Night Stand in 2006, which was also held in the Hammerstein Ballroom. This saw John Cena being booed by the entire crowd during his entrance. One fan also mentioned how this could be a tribute to Jimmy Rave, a ROH icon who also had toilet paper thrown at him.
"rvd vs john cena vibes lol," one mentioned.
"ECW 2006 one night stand all over again," said another.
"He got the Jimmy Rave treatment," another realized.
Several fans expressed how this was an interesting way of treating Ricochet, with one claiming this was better than being buried by Bron Breakker. Another mentioned how this might have been a wake-up call for him.
"At least he’s not losing to Bron Breakker anymore though," one claimed.
"Brother found out that he is in fact not him," another mentioned.
"Classic ROH," one fan said.
"They did a Cody lol," one realized.
Ricochet was also turned down by The Hurt Syndicate on AEW Dynamite
Earlier this week on AEW Dynamite, Ricochet found himself in another embarrassing situation.
During his in-ring segment, he was suddenly confronted by The Hurt Syndicate. It seemed as if he believed they finally saw him as worthy of joining their ranks. The opposite ended up happening, as MVP rescinded his offer, feeling that he was just sucking up to them.
This new, arrogant behavior from the former WWE high-flyer could be due to recent events and is a sign that things may change for him from now on. It remains to be seen whether The Hurt Syndicate has a change of heart and takes an interest once more in him.
