Former WWE Superstar Donovan Dijak recently expressed his desire to headline a pay-per-view with his former NXT rival and current AEW star Keith Lee. The former Retribution member parted ways with the Stamford-based promotion last month after the company didn't approach him for a contract extension.
Shortly after his WWE exit, Dijak was spotted backstage at the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. He has since been heavily linked with a potential move to All Elite Wrestling after openly confirming his interest in doing business with Tony Khan.
In an interview with Tru Heel Heat Wrestling, Donovan Dijak asserted that he's optimistic about exploring free agency and facing new opponents now that he's no longer under the WWE umbrella.
"There’s guys that I’ve wrestled before that I haven’t wrestled in seven years; I want to wrestle them again. There’s guys that I’ve never wrestled that I’d love to. I just loved the experience, and I love that I’m in a position now where it feels like I can do more of that than when I was with WWE. The reality with WWE is that you wrestle a lot of the same guys over and over and over again," Dijak said. [H/T: EWrestlingNews.com]

The former RAW Superstar also expressed his desire to run it back with Keith Lee, with whom he had a blockbuster rivalry during their time in NXT.
"That’s just kind of the way that it boils down. There was a point in my career where Keith [Lee] and I were sick of wrestling each other. Now, we’re at the point where it’s like, we should probably main-event a pay-per-view with this in some capacity, so hopefully that happens, wherever that might happen," he added.
Donovan Dijak seemingly left WWE on bad terms
During a recent interaction with Forbes, Dijak was asked whether he felt betrayed by Triple H. The 37-year-old star responded by saying that all he wanted was an explanation as to why the higher-ups decided not to renew his contract.
"I don't know that I'd say betrayed is the word that I would use. And a lot of this has to be taken with a grain of salt because the bottom line is, I don't know. I never got an explanation, which, for the record, that's not cool. I wanted an explanation, so I asked lots of people for one. I did not get one," he said.
Rumor has it that the former Retribution member was leaking information to the dirt sheets. But Dijak shut down those rumors. Will AEW be his next potential landing spot? Only time will tell.
