The WWE Universe had some mixed feelings about reports of the return of two legends to the company. This wasn't so shocking given that they are catching up in age.
The two legends in question are none other than Matt and Jeff Hardy. It was reported earlier today that The Hardy Boyz had met with WWE officials. This should not come as a surprise given that they are no longer with AEW and are working independently, albeit in TNA.
Matt and Jeff made an earth shattering return to WWE in 2017 at WrestleMania 33 and immediately won the tag team titles. That set off a good run for them in the company. After reports of their meeting with the officials went public, the fans inevitably took to Twitter to express their true feelings.
While the majority of them were in favor of them coming back and having one final run, which would enable them to get into the Hall of Fame, some said that they had their time. One fan also wished that Triple H would not ruin SummerSlam by bringing them back.
Jeff Hardy recalls why he rejected WWE’s offer for Hall of Fame induction
Jeff Hardy has revealed that he turned down an opportunity to be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame. He said he did that because it did not feel right to be inducted without his brother.
He was speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast when he revealed how heartbroken he was after rejecting the invite on a phone call.
He said:
"For sure, man. When I denied it the first time, it didn't feel right going in there without Matt [Hardy]. I mean I cried after that phone call. I was just thinking about all the really cool moments I've given to the pro wrestling world. I'm so proud of it, but it didn't feel right at all. So, I just wanted to wait. If I did do this, I'm definitely doing that with Matt, you know. It'll be a Hardy Boyz thing. I just want one ring, I don't want two rings."
It is great to see the kind of respect he has towards his brother. They will one day be inducted into the Hall of Fame, thanks to their legendary careers.
