An old audio of Chris Jericho, where he's speaking about the late Chris Benoit, has resurfaced on social media, resulting in immense fan backlash.
Benoit and Jericho worked closely in WCW back in the late 90s before making it to WWE, where they achieved immense success both in singles and tag team action. However, years later, in 2007, fans were in for a shock when news emerged that Chris Benoit had passed away in a horrifying case of double murder-suicide, also leading to the death of his wife, Nancy, and son, Daniel.
The incident has been arguably the most controversial in wrestling history and is still widely discussed to this date. A couple of years back, on his podcast, Talk is Jericho, Le Champion made a controversial remark on the infamous case.

Chris Jericho on CM Punk's WWE return
On his recent appearance on Insights with Chris Van Vliet, Jericho spoke about his former AEW colleague CM Punk returning to WWE at Survivor Series 2023.
Le Champion lauded Triple H's decision to bring Punk back, saying the WWE Chief Content Officer took a leaf out of Vince McMahon's book and made a choice that would make the promotion the most money:
"I mean doesn’t surprise. I mean it’s the Vince [McMahon] attitude like if you can make money with somebody then you bring them back. He brought back the nWo, he brought Bischoff in. Yeah, and Vince isn’t in charge. But Triple H learned from Vince once again and the fans, keeping the fans entertained and happy man look, he came back and it was the highest viewed social media segment that they’ve ever had. So once right out of the gate, it was a benefit to them. So it didn’t surprise me," said Chris Jericho.
Jericho is currently in a tag team, The Golden Jets, with his former rival Kenny Omega in AEW. The duo even defeated The Young Bucks at Full Gear 2023.
