Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell shared his thoughts on the future of former AEW star Brian Pillman Jr. Mantell believes that the 29-year-old star could find success in WWE, thanks to his late father Brian Pillman's legacy in the company.
After Pillman's contract with AEW expired on July 11, 2023, many are speculating about his next move in the wrestling world. Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell believes that the Stamford-based promotion would be a good fit for him.
In a recent episode of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, Mantell pointed out that WWE has a legacy program, citing examples such as Roman Reigns, Cody, and Dustin Rhodes, among others.
"He wants to go to WWE and see what he's going to make there. WWE could probably do him more good because they got all that Brian his father's stuff ... they could tell a great story with that. And I have noticed that WWE, they do have a legacy program, hence the Samoans. Roman, and you know, Afa and Sika and the Usos, and they're all Samoans .... They had the Legacy program, Cody, there's another one, Dustin would be another one, and Brian Pillman Jr. is another one," Mantell said. (0:48 - 1:42)
Mantell stated that Triple H could take advantage of Pillman's family legacy to create a successful storyline:
"When you take somebody like Brian Pillman out there and he said, 'Wait a minute, Pillman, was it even if you don't remember that much like me?' But you would think, 'Well, they just have a Pillman guy that was kind of a nut.' And they could probably take that and could do well with it because he's not coming in trying to get over just as another guy," Mantell added. (1:48 - 2:12)
While Brian Pillman Jr.'s future is still uncertain, Mantell's insights provide an interesting perspective on how WWE could potentially utilize him.
