Eric Bischoff claims AEW has failed in standing out against WWE

When AEW burst onto the scene in 2019, they promised to stand out as an alternative to WWE. One central point of emphasis was that their in-ring product would be of higher quality. However, Eric Bischoff believes that Tony Khan's company has failed in this regard.

The Jacksonville promotion has undoubtedly put on some incredible matches throughout the promotion's young lifespan. But Eric Bischoff has been less than impressed with what he has seen from an in-ring perspective recently.

On last week's Dynamite, a bloodied "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry scored a win over an enraged RUSH. Speaking on his Strictly Business podcast, Bischoff said the following about the bout and the promotion's wrestling in general:

“They failed on that because 80 percent of the in-ring presentation is less than. […] The Jungle Boy silly nonsense, I mean, there’s so much bad wrestling in AEW they don’t care about that.” [H/T: Inside the Ropes]

The former WCW President claims that blood is being used to mask the "bad wrestling" in the promotion and that fans are too clouded in their loyalty to realize this:

“If you take your emotions out of it or your, in my opinion, I don’t want to say loyalty, but if you take off your fan glasses and just look at the product objectively, the in-ring presentation is not better than, in my opinion. You may feel differently, cool, and fans may feel differently. But for me, I look at that, if I would’ve done some of the stuff I’m seeing currently in AEW or have seen recently in AEW, if I would’ve done some of that in WCW, WCW would’ve been trashed.”

Huge title matches set for AEW Double or Nothing

Although Eric Bischoff may be unimpressed by AEW's in-ring presentation, there are still plenty of hot matches for fans of the promotion to look forward to. With Double or Nothing set to take place this weekend, there are six title matches set to take place on the card.

The show will be main-evented by the four-way match between MJF, Darby Allin, Jack Perry, and Sammy Guevara for the World Championship.

Elsewhere on the card, Wardlow will look to defend his TNT Championship in a ladder match against Christian, and Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett will challenge FTR for the Tag Team Championships.

Jamie Hayter, Orange Cassidy, and Jade Cargill will also defend their respective championships at the event.
