Eric Bischoff has just responded to one of Tony Khan's bold claims about Adam Copeland's (fka Edge) run in AEW. He was in disbelief regarding what Khan had to say.
A few days ago, the AEW President talked about The Rated-R Superstar amidst his hiatus due to injury. He spoke about how he held the TNT Championship and claimed that this was perhaps the best run of his legendary career. Unfortunately, Copeland's injury hindered him from defending his title and thus forced him to vacate it.
A fan mentioned Eric Bischoff on X, sharing this quote from Tony Khan, as they felt that this was ignorant, invalidating his previous iconic runs. Upon seeing this, the WWE Hall of Famer couldn't believe what he was reading and expressed this.
"This can’t be real," Bischoff posted.
Eric Bischoff baffled by how Tony Khan spends money on stars
A few weeks ago, Bischoff talked about the budget for talent that Tony Khan had and how it was supposedly roughly over 100 million dollars.
During his appearance on the Keepin' It 100 podcast, the former WCW veteran mentioned how the AEW CEO was paying stars a lot of money, and several of them were not completely active on the roster.
He was also shocked at how Khan was paying a lot for Mercedes Moné, and giving her creative control.
“According to Dave Meltzer, and you’ve got to be careful, but I’m using it as a reference because I just saw it the other day, Tony Khan has a talent budget that’s over $100 million. Guys are making $100,000 a year, and 75% of the people on that roster feel like they’re in the witness protection program. Half of them, you see them only once every six months. If you look at his talent budget and his expenses, I mean, look at Mercedes Mone, $5 million a year. Are you kidding me? And giving her creative control?" [H/T - Ringside News]
Eric Bischoff has always been vocal about Khan and his performance, being the owner of the promotion in several aspects. It remains to be seen whether AEW's management will address these criticisms soon.
