AEW is reportedly trying to run a stadium show in Australia. However, Eric Bischoff is skeptical that the show will be a success.

Ever since its launch in 2019, AEW has come a long way. The company displayed a lot of growth during its initial years. They even hosted its biggest show, All In, from Wembley Stadium in London, England last year and sold 80,000 tickets. The show was such a grand success that they are doing it again this year as well.

Given the success of its UK shows, reports recently emerged stating that AEW is planning to run a stadium show in Australia much like WWE did earlier this year. However, Eric Bischoff is skeptical of this idea.

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff noted that even other promotions haven't had success in the country aside from WWE due to the high costs involved.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

“I’m not saying it can’t happen, but if you look at the success of Australian promotions, setting WWE aside over the last 20 years, and their dismal failures, it’s just, first of all, you have the cost. The expense is astronomical. This is not like running cities venues here in the States. I would say the costs are essentially going to be not three times as high, but damn close. Somewhere between two, two, and a half, and three times as high.” [H/T Ringside News]

Eric Bischoff explains why a stadium show in Australia isn't the best idea for AEW

Despite the success of last year's All In event, AEW hasn't had the best year in terms of numbers. The company has lost a lot of viewership and even recorded its lowest viewership recently. Moreover, the promotion has even struggled to sell out arenas for its weekly shows.

During the same podcast episode, Bischoff noted that there's low interest in wrestling in Australia and the people who will be willing to shell out money to go in person will be hardcore wrestling fans.

"Your expenses are just going to be….there is no television there. There’s very little district. Nobody’s watching the show in Australia. So you’re bringing an American wrestling company that’s on TV in America that nobody really knows about, beyond the hardcore wrestling fans that know about it through the internet. That’s the only place that’s available, and you’re banking on putting 10,000 seats in an arena." [H/T Ringside News]

It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan will still go ahead with the plan to run a show in Australia.
