AEW's inconsistent viewership and TV ratings have seemingly become a cause for concern. Former WWE 24/7 Champion EC3 commented on the issue, offering a possible solution to the problem.
It is common knowledge that the Tony Khan-led promotion has been struggling with attendance figures and TV ratings for a while. Considering the viewership of a recent episode of Dynamite, many have expressed concern regarding the future of the company.
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 said AEW should focus on creating new stars instead of heavily relying on good matches to attract viewers.
"I think it can be applied as scaling a lot of things back and re-establishing, making people stars and attractions over good match, good match, good match, good match. I think we talked about it last week with Ricochet in a get-over match that's 14 minutes long where somebody we don't know is kicking out of like his, really cool false finish stuff." [5:44 onwards]
Former WWE EC3 thinks AEW needs to take drastic measures
EC3 thinks there is not much to risk at this point in All Elite Wrestling, which gives Tony Khan the freedom to try unconventional methods.
On the same edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 laid out a plan for the programming structure that he thinks could work well in AEW.
"First off, it can't get any worse, can it? So could you try? Something drastic, something new, something different and just re-establishing people as megastars and your top tiers. And then, on the come up, the young people that are striving with a lot of potential, they get in the mix. Then with a solid mid-card with experienced veterans guiding young talent with potential to be there." [6:07 onwards]
As of now, AEW is preparing for its next big pay-per-view, Full Gear 2024. The event will take place on November 23 in Newark, New Jersey.
