Ex-WWE star makes surprise appearance after AEW Dynamite goes off-air

A former WWE star recently appeared in a major promotion after this week's episode of AEW Dynamite finished airing. The star who showed up was Matt Cardona, who was last seen in AEW in March this year when he faced Adam Copeland on AEW Collision. Matt recently challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship.

The Deathmatch King had a lackluster run at the Stamford-based promotion. However, since being released from the company, he has been one of the biggest stars in the independent promotions.

Fans have been excited about the Jacksonville-based promotion going to the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom. The arena has witnessed legendary shows in the past from different promotions. AEW and ROH will be hosting shows in the arena for the first time. A couple of shows will be taking place in the arena this month. Among these, the most important event will be ROH's Final Battle pay-per-view.

The Learning Tree recently defeated Mark Briscoe for the ROH title and also emerged victorious against Tomohiro Ishii in his first defense. On the latest edition of Dynamite, Jericho teased that his next challenger will be announced at the upcoming ROH tapings.

On the Tony Khan-owned promotion's taping, Matt Cardona revealed himself as Jericho's opponent for the ROH World Championship and the duo will face off at the Final Battle PPV.

It will be interesting to see if Matt Cardona seizes the opportunity and becomes the new ROH World Champion at the Final Battle PPV on December 20.
