A former WWE name has responded to the possibility of returning to action after nine years to take on Christian Cage. The star, Ezekiel Jackson, last faced the AEW veteran on a 2011 episode of SmackDown.
Towards the end of 2009 and early 2010, Captain Charisma defended his ECW Championship against Ezekiel Jackson at several house shows. Christian retained the belt against Jackson at the 2010 Royal Rumble, but the latter succeeded at finally dethroning Cage on the February 16, 2010 episode of ECW.
The title was subsequently discontinued along with WWE's rebrand of ECW, and Jackson is supposedly acknowledged by the sports entertainment juggernaut as the last official ECW Heavyweight Champion. Big Zeke parted ways with the company in 2014 and afterward competed in TNA and Lucha Underground. However, the powerhouse has not wrestled since 2015.
On the other hand, Christian Cage is still going strong in AEW programming and is one of the company's top heels. However, wrestling fans on the internet have seemingly not forgotten The Patriarch's ECW World Title feud with Ezekiel Jackson, as evident from a user's response to a fake match graphic for a rematch between the two men.
"Finally Christian will get his rematch for the ECW championship.. let’s go," wrote the fan.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion has now taken to X/Twitter to seemingly tease his own interest in locking horns with Christian once again.
"Hmmmmm," wrote Jackson.

WWE legend Christian Cage's current goal in AEW
Christian Cage has tasted World Championship gold in various promotions, including in TNA and WWE. Armed with a guaranteed AEW World Title shot - which he secured by winning the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In 2024 - The Instant Classic seemingly has his sights set on current champion Jon Moxley.
Cage was seen observing The One True King and his Death Riders after he was ambushed by Orange Cassidy, Jay White, and Hangman Page this week on Dynamite, leading to much speculation about the status of the World Title for the Worlds End pay-per-view.
