Female AEW star makes heartbreaking comments on losing her friends - "I can be better than what I was"

A top female AEW star recently discussed losing many of her friends last year. Kris Statlander had a crushing 2024. Besides parting ways with Willow Nightingale, she also separated from The Best Friends.

Despite all that, Kris Statlander has had great showings in her recent matches in AEW against TBS Champion Mercedes Mone. Statlander's shortcomings gave her a lesson which could eventually lead to her reclaiming the TBS Championship.

In a recent chat on Close-Up with Renee Paquette, Kris Statlander spoke about her time as the AEW TBS Champion. She noted that it might have been the last time people respected her and saw some worth in her. Statlander also acknowledged her falling out with Willow Nightingale and The Best Friends and hoped that they see value in her so they could be friends once again.

“Part of me feels like when I had the TBS title the last time, it was the last time maybe people saw so much worth in me before things started slowly going bad for me after I lost the title. I’m very well aware of that now reflecting on it. Part of me feels like maybe if I have a championship again, TBS title, Women’s Championship, anything, that maybe I’m not a loser anymore and maybe Willow or the Best Friends will see the value in me to hopefully help me reconcile with the wrongs that I’ve done and with them also. I do want to make amends but sometimes — what have I done, I’ve just lost a lot since then. Again, probably from their perspective, that’s probably what I deserve. In an ideal world, all three of those things will come true but I feel like the first step might be trying to focus on a title or trying to focus on something to prove that I can be better than what I was.” [H/T: Fightful]

Kris Statlander is a former AEW TBS Champion

At Double or Nothing 2023, Jade Cargill issued an open challenge for the TBS Championship. The challenge was answered by a returning Kris Statlander who shockingly defeated Jade Cargill to become TBS Champion.

Kris Statlander went on to hold the TBS Championship for 174 days. At AEW Full Gear 2023, she defended the title in a three-way match against Julia Hart and Skye Blue. Julia Hart went on to defeat both stars to become the TBS Champion.

We will have to wait and see whether Kris Statlander wins a championship in All Elite Wrestling later this year.
