AEW President Tony Khan has established several major annual events throughout his first five years in the wrestling business, but the grandest and most chaotic might be Blood & Guts. ROH star, Marina Shafir has now made a request regarding the brutal stipulation match.
All Elite Wrestling has produced three editions of the Dynamite: Blood & Guts special, with a fourth set to take place on July 24 in Nashville, Tennessee. The stipulation is based on the original Jim Crocket Promotions iteration of WarGames and features two rings enclosed by a cage, with two teams of five competitors battling inside.
The Blood & Guts format has received acclaim from fans, but there hasn't been a women's version produced in AEW yet. Tony Khan recently addressed the possibility of putting together a version for his company's women's division, and Marina Shafir has now issued a plea for Khan to make it happen.
"Please? It’s only right," wrote Shafir.
Marina Shafir is signed to All Elite Wrestling but rarely competes on the company's flagship shows. She's been mostly active in Ring of Honor this year and also competes on the independent circuit.
Tony Khan is weaving multiple rivalries into AEW Blood & Guts 2024
This year's edition of AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts is set to be a tense and violent affair, with multiple storylines and rivalries clashing inside the steel cage.
The Elite continue to throw their weight around on television, but a disparate collective has risen against them. The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry are set to face off with Mark Briscoe, Kyle O'Reilly, and The Acclaimed on July 24 in Nashville.
Each team needed a final member, and when Swerve Strickland confirmed that he would defend the company against the villainous New Elite in Blood & Guts, 'Hangman' Adam Page couldn't resist throwing his hat into the ring.
Page is obsessed with Strickland's downfall and, having lost the chance to challenge the AEW World Champion at All In, he jumped on the chance to meet Swerve inside the cage. Whether he'll be able to finally bring down his archrival remains to be seen.
