A former AEW champion has been unexpectedly pulled from an upcoming wrestling show. The star in question is Penta El Zero Miedo.

Although the former AEW Trios World Champion features regularly on All Elite Wrestling programming, he frequently competes in other promotions as well, such as in House of Glory and Lucha Libre AAA. He was scheduled to wrestle at a show presented by Lucha Libre Acapulco on June 29, 2024. However, it seems like the masked luchador has been pulled out of the event.

On their official Facebook page, Lucha Libre Acapulco shared a statement informing fans that Penta El Zero Miedo would not be able to appear on the June 29 show organized by the promotion. The company revealed that the former AEW World Tag Team Champion had to cancel his attendance at the event because he was required by All Elite Wrestling to be present for its television tapings.

"We want to inform you that, unfortunately, the fighter Penta Zero Miedo will not be able to appear as originally announced.... The reason for this cancelation is because Penta Zero Miedo has received a call from the company All Elite Wrestling (AEW), with whom he has a current contract. AEW has required his presence for one of its events recorded for TV, which has made it impossible for him to participate in our event."

The post further clarified that Penta did not back out due to any logistical issues from the company's side.

"We want to make it clear that Lucha Libre Acapulco has no responsibility for this cancelation. From our side, all the commitments established with the fighter and his team were fulfilled, including the payment of advances and the corresponding negotiation process (proof of this is the video that the fighter sent confirming his attendance), in a timely manner and in the agreed terms."

Penta El Zero Miedo's AEW contract is set to expire soon

Penta El Zero Miedo has been involved with AEW since the early stages of the company's development. Alongside his brother Ray Fenix, Penta has found remarkable success in the Jacksonville-based promotion. The Lucha Bros are former World Tag Team Champions and have also held the Trios Titles with PAC as Death Triangle.

It was recently reported by Lucha Libre Online that the 39-year-old star's contract with All Elite Wrestling is set to expire later this year, supposedly between the months of August and September. The report also claimed that WWE had some interest in signing Penta.

Furthermore, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that the former IMPACT World Heavyweight Champion had supposedly been looking into purchasing the rights to his name. Meltzer also shared claims regarding Penta potentially exploring his options after his present deal runs out.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Penta El Zero Miedo in All Elite Wrestling.
