Maria Kanellis, known for her work in AEW and ROH, has been battling a serious health issue for some time now. However, she recently took to social media to share a positive update on her health.
Earlier this year, a mass was discovered on Kanellis' adrenal gland, which was later assessed to be a rare tumor called pheochromocytoma. She underwent surgery in October and then had to be hospitalized days after the procedure.
Taking to X/Twitter earlier today, however, The First Lady of Wrestling revealed that she was cancer-free and expressed gratitude for the wishes and support she had received.
“Hello. I wanted to give you guys an update. I know it’s been a little bit. It took a while for the pathology to get back. But I wanted to let you guys know that I am cancer-free. The tumor was not cancerous. We are so incredibly grateful and thankful to be moving into this holiday season cancer-free and to not have that worry. Thank you so much for all of the well wishes and the prayers."

Kanellis further said:
"It did turn out to be a pheochromocytoma, which is an incredibly rare tumor. Only 3 to 8 people get it out of a million. It’s just a weird thing that happened. It affects your mood. It affects your metabolism. It affects your blood pressure, your heart rate. So, we are very, very blessed to have found it as early as we did, because it really can start causing problems in your body. So, thank you so much. And I am looking forward and I’m really, really hopeful about the future. Peace, friends.”
Maria Kanellis on her AEW contract status
Maria Kanellis debuted in AEW in 2022 alongside Mike Bennett and Matt Taven and managed The Kingdom for some time. More recently, she had been working with Griff Garrison and Cole Karter in Ring of Honor, the sister promotion of All Elite Wrestling.
While contending with her health issues in October, Kanellis revealed that her deal with All Elite Wrestling was set to expire at the end of the month and that she had not heard back from the promotion as to whether they would re-sign her.
Later, the Illinois native took to X/Twitter to state that she would discuss her tenure in AEW after October 31, possibly indicating that she may not return to the company.
"For those asking I will be accepting interviews about my time and treatment in @aew after October 31st. I will be able to start taking bookings six weeks after my surgery so starting the second week in December. [email protected]," she tweeted.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Maria Kanellis as she continues to recover from her recent surgery.
