It looks like Rey Fenix won't be able to leave AEW anytime soon. As a result, a former AEW star advised him to get into a backstage fight with Jack Perry.

Joey Janela is the latest to comment on Rey Fenix's contract situation. While the Lucha Brothers started their AEW careers off in exciting fashion, it has been a while since they have been properly pushed despite being one of the most popular duos on the roster.

It was reported that WWE is seemingly interested in the Lucha Bros. In fact, Penta El Zero Miedo is expected to sign with WWE once his contract expires this year. However, the same can't be said about Rey Fenix, who will have some time added to his contract to make up for time missed due to injuries.

However, it looks like Joey Janela has a way Rey Fenix could leave the company soon. The Bad Boy took to social media to suggest that Fenix should get into a backstage fight with Jack Perry and get fired from the company. This is in reference to CM Punk, who was fired from AEW after he got into an altercation with Perry at AEW All In 2023.

"My Advice is that Rey Fenix should get into a tussle with Jungle Boy in the Gorilla position," wrote Janela on X.

Darby Allin gives his honest thoughts on Jack Perry

While both CM Punk and Jack Perry were punished for what happened at AEW All in 2023, the incident was ultimately the catalyst that catapulted the latter to the next level. It paved the way for Perry's current gimmick as The Scapegoat.

During a recent interview with the New York Post, Darby Allin commented on Jack Perry's current gimmick, stating that the incident from All In benefitted the reigning TNT Champion the most.

"Honestly, it sounds crazy, but it’s awesome. Because when he was Jungle Boy, I felt like it was just too hokey and had a shelf life, if that makes sense. Like there was a glass ceiling with Jungle Boy, and then when he first became a bad guy, Hollywood Jack, or wherever the hell he was it just wasn’t believable. Nothing he was doing was believable. It felt like a horrible made-for-TV Lifetime, movie network character. If anybody’s benefited from the incident that happened last year at All In, it’s Jack Perry, because now what he is, I feel like, is kind of where he always needed to be," he said. Perry is the current TNT Champion and has competed against some of the top stars in the business since All In 2023.
