Wrestling legend Sting has received an unlikely apology from a former AEW star. The said name is Joey Janela, who previously worked for All Elite Wrestling.
The Stinger is set to have his retirement match at Revolution 2024. The anticipation surrounding it is through the roof, owing to how influential he is. He is expected to team up with Darby Allin to take on The Young Bucks after the events on this week's Dynamite, where Nick and Matt Jackson confronted them.
Reports emerged of the WCW legend himself being involved in hand-picking the former AEW Tag Team Champions as the opponents for his final match. This elicited a hilarious response from Joey Janela, who jokingly apologized to Sting for not being able to accept the offer to compete against him:
"My apologies once again to Stinger about not being able to do the match, I have tickets to the Shrek Rave, he understood.." tweeted Joey Janela.

Jim Ross on Sting not wrestling singles matches in AEW
A section of fans have been disappointed with the fact that Sting has never stepped inside a ring in AEW for a singles match. On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross stated that he liked how Sting was being booked.
He added that it would be foolish of fans to assume The Stinger would wrestle singles matches, considering he was well over sixty years of age:
“I like what they’re doing. Sting needs to be in a tag. Don’t be stupid. He’ll feel more confident. The match will have more action. You know, he’s not a kid. What is he? 60? [Conrad Thompson said he’s older than 60]. He looks great. He’s in great shape. He’s always been a workout warrior since he and Luger owned that gym in Atlanta,” Ross said.
Viewers can expect Nick and Matt Jackson to be officially announced as Sting and Darby Allin's opponents for Revolution 2024 in the coming weeks.
