A former AEW star who recently got released from the promotion after a nearly five-year run has joined a major wrestling company.

The name in question is Mike Santana. He gained prominence during his time in the Tony Khan-led promotion, teaming up with Ortiz. Santana had a great tag team run, putting on amazing matches from time to time. However, after being away from TV for months, he reportedly asked for his release and it was granted.

Amid much speculation about his future, Mike Santana returned to TNA Wrestling after years. The former AEW star was a part of the promotion from 2017 to 2019 before eventually joining All Elite Wrestling. He made his comeback at TNA's Rebellion event.

Former WWE Superstar Santino Marella introduced Mike Santana at Rebellion. Santana is a four-time IMPACT Wrestling World Tag Team Champion alongside his long-time partner, Ortiz.

While Mike Santana looks set to make waves in TNA, Ortiz is still signed to the Tony Khan-led promotion. He is currently a singles competitor after his alleged fallout with Santana last year. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the duo.
