Former AEW star Matt Hardy recently revealed that he wants to have one final run in WWE and hopefully get inducted into the Hall of Fame. Hardy has been wrestling in TNA as a free agent after leaving Tony Khan's promotion a couple of months ago.

Matt Hardy made a name for himself in WWE along with his brother, Jeff Hardy, during the late 90s and early 2000s. The Hardy Boyz ruled the tag team division during the Attitude Era and The Ruthless Aggression Era. Both stars have also had success as singles superstars.

As a singles star, Matt is a one-time Hardcore Champion, a one-time European Champion, a one-time United States Champion, a one-time Cruiserweight Champion, and a one-time ECW Champion. The Broken One's most recent tenure with WWE ended in 2020.

During a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, the former AEW star expressed his interest in returning to the Stamford-based promotion.

“I would like to do TNA and have a hell of a run there, and then I almost feel like now, just the destiny has revealed itself in many ways; I almost feel Jeff and I end up returning to WWE, do something small, and then go into the Hall of Fame. That’s a best-case scenario," Matt Hardy said. [H/T: Fightful]

Former AEW star Matt Hardy opens up about Jeff Hardy's desire to prove himself after his return to TNA

The Charismatic Enigma has endured a rough time lately. His last in-ring performance came during the February 14, 2024, episode of AEW Rampage, where he suffered a broken nose after his opponent, Sammy Guevara, botched a Shooting Star Press during a No-Disqualification Match. As a result, Jeff was consigned to the bench for several weeks.

The Hardcore legend recently entered free agency following the expiration of his contract with AEW. He appeared at the recent TNA Against All Odds PPV to save his brother, Matt Hardy, from The System. Jeff's previous stint with the Stamford-based promotion ended on a sour note in 2021, as the former AEW star was released by the company after refusing to rehab.

During a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, Matt Hardy was questioned about whether the Triple H-led promotion could trust Jeff Hardy again. The Broken One revealed that Jeff decided to return to TNA to ''build equity'' and show people that he was a ''different human being!'' Matt also added that Jeff was aware of the current working relationship between TNA and WWE.

"That’s a great question. I think Jeff really wanted to come back to TNA to continue to build equity, and he knows that TNA and WWE are working together. I have friends in the WWE; I have spoken with people in WWE. So I think Jeff just wants to once again show people how he is a different human being. The way to put equity into that is to go to TNA, have a kicka** run, and show people he’s on his best behavior," he added. [H/T: Fightful]

TNA stars Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian recently participated in a 25-man Battle Royal on NXT. It will be interesting to see if the former AEW stars make an appearance on WWE TV in the coming weeks.
