Royal Rumble is one of the esteemed Premium Live Events of the Stamford-based promotion where the WWE Universe expects some of the greatest superstars in the history of the promotion to make a jaw-dropping return in the 30-man match.
Royal Rumble 2024 will take place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, and as usual, the expectations from the fans are through the roof. Former wrestling manager Jim Cornette has tipped CM Punk to win the 30-man match and headline WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia next year.
Though WWE is said to have turned down bringing back The Straight Edge Superstar, early betting odds have listed the former AEW World Champion as one of the favorites to win the traditional 30-man Royal Rumble match in 2024.
Speaking on the Drive-Thru podcast, Jim Cornette stated that IMPACT Wrestling would welcome CM Punk, but they would not be able to offer him a lucrative deal.
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
"I'm sure IMPACT Wrestling would welcome him with open arms. I'm sure they would. But they probably wouldn't welcome him with an open Brink's truck, and that's what it would take. And this is a guy who said [before signing with AEW] he didn't want to be a guy just coming back to do bad television. Well, he ended up on one bad TV show that he couldn't do anything about," Cornette said. [1:53 - 2:20]
He added that Survivor Series would be an ideal time to witness the return of the Second City Saint since it would be taking place in his hometown of Chicago. Cornette also tipped Punk to win the Royal Rumble next year.
"So, this has been obvious what was going to happen. Survivor Series is in Chicago. Great time to make a debut. Royal Rumble is in January. Great time to f*****g win it. A world title of some description would be at WrestleMania, great time to wrestle for it," Cornette added. [2:21 - 2:42]

Is WWE holding off CM Punk's inevitable return until Royal Rumble 2024?
CM Punk last wrestled in WWE at Royal Rumble 2014. Almost a decade later, fans are buzzing over the possibility of the 44-year-old legend returning to pick up the pieces where he left off.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's UnSKripted, legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter noted that WWE could be holding off CM Punk's return until Royal Rumble next year.
"It's all over the internet that there are no talks going on between WWE and CM Punk. Officially, allegedly. I think they are holding this off until Royal Rumble. He's gonna be a surprise," Apter said.
Before his AEW exit, CM Punk reportedly had plans to return at Royal Rumble and set up a WrestleMania showdown with Kevin Owens. Will the match come to fruition? Only time will tell.
