Bryan Danielson's full-time in-ring career came to an end at AEW WrestleDream 2024. Now, his former rival has teased his wrestling return.
Zack Sabre Jr. is the latest to comment on Bryan Danielson's return. The American Dragon announced that last year was his final year as a full-time performer. It looked like his career would come to an end at AEW All In. However, Danielson ended up winning the AEW World Championship. He then said that he would retire from full-time competition when he lost the title. At WrestleDream, Bryan lost the title to Jon Moxley and hasn't been seen on AEW TV again.
One of Danielson's old rivals is Zack Sabre Jr. The two men had a fierce rivalry to determine who was the best technical wrestler in the world. Currently, their singles record against each other stands at 1-1. But Zack feels he will get the chance to settle the score.
During a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Zack Sabre Jr. said that he feels fortunate he got the opportunity to wrestle Danielson twice and he is waiting for the deciding match. He further added that if Danielson was physically able to wrestle, then he'd be back in the ring again.
A former WWE writer just went after JBL for his comments HERE
"I feel very fortunate to have been able to wrestle Bryan twice in, for now, his retirement period, but I expect that he will be back. If he's physically capable of wrestling, I'm certain he'll be back. But I'll certainly be waiting for the decider. But to be able to wrestle Bryan in both America and Japan in close proximity was very important to me. I would never have presumed to be able to have that match on an American pay-per-view either. So, I think it's a testament to professional wrestling fans as well as to how open-minded they are for it to have been received the way that it was," Sabre Jr. said. [H/T Fightful]
Zack Sabre Jr. still has a point to prove against Bryan Danielson
Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. first competed against each other in a singles match at AEW WrestleDream 2023. On that night, it was The American Dragon who walked away with the win. Their second encounter came last year at NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka. This time it was Zack who won. However, he was never able to make The American Dragon submit - a fact that still eats him up to this day.
During the same interview, Zack said that while he's beaten Bryan Danielson, he has never made him tap out and he wants to be able to submit the best submission wrestler in the world.
"I've not tapped him out yet. He graciously said that I was the best technical wrestler in the world, but I don't know if I can take that mantle until I've beaten the best submission artist. So, yeah, get your a** back, Bryan. I've been aiming to be the best technical wrestler in the world my whole career." [H/T Fightful]
It will be interesting to see if a deciding match between these two rivals will take place in the future.
