A former United States Champion is open to making his WWE return after a four-year absence from the company at the Royal Rumble next year. The talent in question is Matt Cardona.

WWE recently revealed that the promotion had reached an agreement with the Indiana Sports Corps to present multiple major Premium Live Events in the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

The 2025 Royal Rumble, scheduled for February 1 next year, is set to kick off the partnership, which will also enable the sports entertainment juggernaut to organize two nights of SummerSlam and WrestleMania at the aforementioned venue. Furthermore, RAW, SmackDown and NXT Live Events are also expected to be held across Indiana, courtesy of the partnership.

WWE's statement on their deal with the Indiana Sports Corps elicited various responses in the wrestling sphere, including an interesting reaction from Matt Cardona. The former US Champion took to X/Twitter to point out that Royal Rumble 2025 will be held in Indianapolis and seemingly teased a blockbuster return to the promotion at the event.

"#RoyalRumble is in Indianapolis... Indy... hmm... Maybe it's time for the INDY GOD to come home......"

Check out the tweet below:

Matt Cardona made a name for himself through his work in World Wrestling Entertainment, where he found a modest degree of success as a singles competitor. After being released by the Stamford-based company in 2020, The Long-Island Iced-Z repackaged himself and continued to ply his trade in the independent scene.

Chelsea Green would like Matt Cardona to return to WWE

Matt Cardona established his uniqueness as a talent through his organic connection with the fans during his time in WWE. Although he has been wrestling prolifically in the independent circuit currently, the former Intercontinental Champion is open to a WWE comeback.

During an interview with the Gorilla Position podcast, Chelsea Green stated she wanted Cardona, her husband, to return to the Stamford-based promotion. Green further claimed that she wanted Cardona to be managed or accompanied by Steph De Lander, with whom The Indy God has worked in the indie scene.

Cardona seemingly voiced his agreement with The Hot Mess by sharing an article on Green's interview on X/Twitter.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Matt Cardona in pro wrestling. He was last seen in action against Blue Pain in GCW in April earlier this year.
