Former WWE Diva Maria Kanellis has shared an update for her fans regarding her current health status. The Illinois-native has appeared in several wrestling promotions since the beginning of her career in 2005, having competed in such companies as WWE, TNA, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring of Honor.
Kanellis has been signed with AEW since 2022. Although she made her debut in the Jacksonville-based promotion alongside her husband Mike Bennett and his tag partner Matt Taven, more recently, she has been managing the duo of Cole Karter and Griff Garrison in ROH.
Some time ago, Kanellis disclosed on X/Twitter that a CT scan had revealed the presence of a mass in her adrenal gland, although she clarified that whether the mass was cancerous or not had not been concluded at that point. The 42-year-old star has now provided an update on the status of her health, revealing on X that she had been to her doctor's appointment recently. Kanellis addressed the subsequent medical steps she intended to follow, and announced that she is likely to schedule her surgery around September.
She further revealed that the mass in her body had become a cause for concern, and although biopsy was not a viable alternative at the moment, Kanellis is set to undergo a retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy first and then the biopsy after.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
"I went to my doctor’s appointment today at Rush. The next steps are blood work and a possible 24 hour urine test. From there, I will be scheduling surgery for most likely some time in September. The mass I have is borderline what they get concerned about and biopsy is not an option. I will be having a retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy and they will biopsy the mass after," wrote Kanellis.

AEW's Maria Kanellis was spotted in a picture with several ex-WWE stars
Maria Kanellis worked in WWE for nearly over eight years, as an in-ring talent and as a manager, across two separate tenures. The former WWE 24/7 Champion was recently spotted in a star-studded photograph with a number of her peers who have also performed for the sports entertainment juggernaut.
Earlier this month, Danielle Moinet - who appeared in WWE under the ring-name Summer Rae - shared a picture of herself with several recognizable wrestling figures on X/Twitter. The photograph featured the likes of Mickie James, Lita, Kelly Kelly and AEW's Maria Kanellis.
Kanellis was present ring-side for Griff Garrison and his substitute tag partner Anthony Henry during their match against The Infantry at ROH: Death Before Dishonor 2024. She also displayed her interest in potentially managing the newly arrived MxM.
