Malakai Black is the leader of the House of Black in AEW. He is a former WWE NXT Champion. That said, Rob Van Dam recently expressed his desire to have a dream match against the 39-year-old.
Black's AEW contract is reportedly set to end in early 2025. He is rumored to return to WWE after his deal expires. The former NXT Champion was last seen in action at Full Gear 2024, where he participated in the World Tag Team Championship four-way match alongside Brody King.
On the latest edition of his 1 Of A Kind podcast, RVD shared his thoughts on Malakai Black. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion praised the AEW wrestler and said he would like to work with him someday.
“Yeah, he is [awesome]. I really like that dude’s style and his vibe. I like the way that he stands out as being different. I’m a big fan of that, so I don’t know. If I didn’t know any better, I would think RVD might have inspired him at one point. So proud of him without even knowing him. It’d be awesome to work with him.” [H/T: eWrestlingnews]

Will WWE veteran Rob Van Dam return to AEW?
RVD competed in AEW in 2023 and 2024. He is currently active on the independent circuit. On his 1 Of A Kind podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer commented on whether he would return to AEW.
"Can I still wrestle in AEW? As far as I know. There’s no reason that I know of that I can’t. If there is a reason, then I don’t know about it. I don’t know that it would be best move for me right now, but at the same time, money talks, and it’s a great motivator when it comes to going to work."
The last time Van Dam wrestled in AEW was in April 2024, when he beat Isiah Kassidy, Komander, and Lee Johnson in a High Flying 4/20 elimination four-way match on Rampage.
