A former WWE manager questioned Tony Khan's recent booking decision. This comes after he booked a legend to lose at AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door III.
Dutch Mantell is the latest to question Tony Khan's booking decision. Prior to the Owen Hart tournament taking place, Jeff Jarrett cut an emotional promo explaining what it meant for him to be in the tournament and win it. Jeff and Owen Hart were pretty close and even wrestled together as a tag team.
When Jeff Jarrett was added to the tournament, his opponent was supposed to be a wild card entry. At Forbidden Door, it was finally revealed that Hangman Adam Page was his opponent. Although Jarrett put on a tough fight against Adam Page, it was the former AEW World Champion who dealt a crushing defeat to the wrestling legend.
Dutch Mantell spoke about the match on his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast where he questioned the decision to have Jeff Jarrett lose such an emotional match. He also mentioned that he wanted to hear Tony Khan's reasoning behind the decision:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
"I know Jeff pretty well and if something is really touching him, he doesn't cry for no reason and he was really close to Owen...was there the night that Owen had his accident....his incident and of course he's been touched by people passing in his life. His first wife passed and I know that really affected him and his father passed that really affected him. But that decision by Tony Khan baffles me. It baffles me and I would like to hear his reasoning for that. Of course, I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm saying I just like to hear it." [11:34 - 12:23]
Stevie Richards wants Tony Khan to sign Vince McMahon to AEW
One of the biggest news stories going around in recent weeks has been Shane McMahon's interest in AEW. Since the news broke, many fans and critics have commented on the possibility of this happening considering Shane's past with WWE.
Speaking on his Stevie Richards Show, the former WWE star is all in for Shane signing with AEW. He even suggested that Tony should try to sign Vince McMahon despite his current legal troubles. He mentioned that Vince has a chip on his shoulder considering everything that is going on in his life.
"I would go as far as to say try to get Vince. That would be nuts. You talking about a guy who has a chip on his shoulder right now. Don't think because he's 77, 78 years old and he walks with a cane and he has a villain mustache that this dude doesn't miss the fight. He's fighting now for a lot of different things in court and legal stuff but he still has it in him to want to. Just think about that I mean and that's really, Shane's an outlier at a percentage of probably I would say between 10 and 30%. Vince between 1 to 8% but it's still kind of a cool fantasy booking," Richards said. [3:44 - 4:32]
It remains to be seen if Tony Khan will ever sign Shane McMahon or Vince McMahon to his promotion.
