A former WWE wrestler who's now signed with AEW has clarified he's still signed with the Jacksonville-based company, notwithstanding his absence from TV. He went ahead and revealed the reason behind his absence.

That wrestler is Blade, part of the Butcher and the Blade tag team. He revealed that he is still a part of the Tony Khan-owned company's roster. Whenever fans see their favorite wrestler pulled from TV programming, they fear the worst - that the wrestler is no longer with the promotion, so this announcement should have them heave a sigh of relief.

He further said he has been away from programming because of a back injury, which would require surgery, on a Facebook Live with K&S Wrestle Fest. He was accompanied by his real-life wife, Bunny during the interview.

Blade is particularly well-known for his stints in ROH and the Jacksonville-based company. Earlier in his career, he performed in squash matches in WWE, taking losses from names like Boogeyman, Vladimir Kozlov, and others.

In AEW, the two have had intense feuds and matches, including an angle where MJF hired them to further his feud with Cody Rhodes. They had also challenged the Lucha Brothers unsuccessfully for the AEW World Tag Team Championship in 2021.

AEW wrestler The Blade had earlier revealed all the details of his back injury in an emotional post

The Butcher and the Blade debuted in the indies in 2017, two years before they signed with the Jacksonville-based promotion. They joined Tony Khan's promotion in 2019 and had their last match there in January 2024. He later revealed the reason for him not being on TV in detail.

"Hello Instagram [grinning face with big eyes emoji] My apologies, it’s been awhile. I’m currently off the road nursing a lower back injury. 2 bulging discs, L2 L3 and L4 L5. Plus two ruptured discs, L3 L4 and L5 S1. I’d like to thank @aew and @tonyrkhan for giving me this time off to heal. Plus, I’ve got the Buffalo,NY magic man pictured with me here, @anthony.albano.dpt," The Blade wrote.

When The Blade will return to television is a question that only time will reveal. We here at Sportskeeda wish him a speedy recovery.
