Former WWE star confirms he's still contracted with AEW amid 6-month absence

An absent AEW star confirms he is still with the company.
Several WWE stars have jumped ship to AEW over the years

Despite not competing in AEW since November 2022, a former WWE talent has clarified he is still under contract with Tony Khan's promotion as a wrestler and producer.

Colt Cabana's most recent appearance in AEW came on an episode of Dynamite, where he challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship. He lost the match but received a thunderous welcome from the crowd.

Cabana previously performed in WWE for several years, primarily competing on Heat, Velocity, and the promotion's developmental banners. He also made sporadic appearances on SmackDown between 2008 and 2009.

Given his status as an indie legend and sentimental fan favorite, many have wondered why Cabana has not been featured in AEW for half a year. Speaking on the Stories with Briscoe and Bradshaw podcast, the star detailed his status with his employers:

"I’m contracted with AEW as a producer and wrestler. So it’s unbelievable for me that that’s a reality right now at my age. I love it," said Cabana. [H/T: POST Wrestling]

At 43 years old, the Chicago native looks to be winding down the years on his in-ring career. Nonetheless, he still has a lot to offer the business, and fans will hope to see him on their screens again soon.

What did CM Punk say about Colt Cabana following AEW All Out 2022?

It's no secret that CM Punk and Colt Cabana are not on good terms. The public fallout between the former best friends has involved legal disputes and shots being fired both ways.

Cabana was among the many stars targeted during The Straight Edge Superstar's infamous rant at the post-All Out 2022 media scrum.

Besides restating that their relationship is completely tarnished, Punk claimed that Colt Cabana shares a bank account with his mother. Cabana later confirmed this to be the case, seemingly unmoved by Punk's comments.

With their relationship seemingly never returning to what it once was, it will be interesting to see how the two interact if Punk makes his long-awaited return to the company.
