A former WWE Superstar currently signed with AEW recently made a reference to an iconic moment from a John Cena match from years ago. The star in question - Mansoor - is one half of MxM Collection alongside Mason Madden, and debuted in the Tony Khan-led promotion in July, 2024, almost a year after being released by the sports entertainment juggernaut.

The Cenation Leader had an uphill battle to fight at ECW One Night Stand 2006, where he defended his WWE Championship against unambiguous favorite Rob Van Dam. The event emanated from the Hammerstein Ballroom, where fans heckled and booed Cena continuously from his entrance onwards and throughout the match.

One of the most iconic visuals from the bout was a sign made by an audience member, which warned of a possible riot if RVD lost. Fortunately, The Whole F'n Show was victorious over Cena courtesy of outside interference from Edge - who now wrestles in AEW under his real name Adam Copeland.

Recently, two other All Elite performers - Mansoor and Mason Madden - referenced the aforementioned sign, albeit with a twist of their own, to voice their support for Johnny TV during his match at the Hammerstein Ballroom on recent ROH tapings. A user on X/Twitter recently pointed out the allusion, which led to The Sultan of Suave taking to his signature sense of humor and making a pun on John Cena's name. In a funny twist, cena is the Spanish word for dinner.

"'IF DINNER WINS WE RIOT' what did they even mean by this?" wrote Mansoor.

Johnny TV challenged Komander for the ROH World TV Title on ROH Boxing Day Brawl, which was taped in the Manhattan Center earlier this month. The former WWE Superstar aligned himself with MxM around November.

Former WWE Champion John Cena set to retire next year?

After entertaining the WWE Universe for over two decades, John Cena announced at Money in the Bank on July 6 that 2025 would be his last year in the squared circle. The 47-year-old legend is expected to be featured on multiple major events next year, including the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and even WrestleMania 41.
