A former WWE Superstar hinted at wanting to make his return to a major promotion and align himself with a top AEW faction. He wished to continue to make a name for himself. This would be Sidney Akeem (fka Reggie/Scrypts).
It was revealed in May that Akeem's contract with WWE was set to expire within the next month. Following his departure from the promotion, he found himself on the independent circuit competing for several popular promotions, including GCW and ROH.
During an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Sidney Akeem talked about wanting to return to Ring of Honor. He mentioned how he loved the experience but felt that he deserved to compete at the highest level. He also mentioned how he felt that he could thrive under several major promotions in the industry.
“You will most definitely see me back there. You gonna see me in a lot of other places as well. It was surreal. I’m not really surprised. I’m gonna be a little cocky here, or maybe just confidence, not cockiness, I do feel I belong in these promotions, whether it’s GCW, whether it’s maybe New Japan, AEW, WWE, I do feel I belong."
He added that he wanted to return to ROH and possibly align himself with the newly formed duo of EJ Nduka and Lee Johnson. He also mentioned joining the likes of two AEW factions, The Infantry and Shane Taylor Promotions. While talking about STP, he felt they could be what he needed for his career.
“I want to get in with my dog EJ [Nduka], or Lee J [Johnson]. They doing some big things. I would love to tangle with Infantry. If you watching this, Shane Taylor Promotions, I’m gonna need to talk to you. Because you got that edge, and STP, Shane Taylor Promotions, you may be the guy that I need to get that circus, sommelier stench off of me. The right attitude, the right discipline, the right unlocking, I think that could be something right there.” [H/T Fightful]
Sidney Akeem faced off with top AEW star in his ROH debut
More than two months ago, the former WWE Superstar made his debut during the ROH tapings at the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Tony Khan held Collision and ROH at the venue for a few weeks.
In his debut, he faced off against Johnny TV. However, his debut did not go as planned, as he lost to the AEW star.
It remains to be seen whether Tony Khan will once more enlist his services for one of his shows or possibly sign him to a deal and have him join the ranks of some of his factions. Sidney Akeem could end up with some great opportunities if he continues to prove himself.
