A former WWE Superstar became a double championship belt holder following her win tonight at AEW x NJPW's Forbidden Door III. This would be Mercedes Moné.

At the pay-per-view, The CEO took on NJPW star Stephanie Vaquer in a title-for-title match. Moné's TBS Championship and Vaquer's NJPW Strong Women's Championship were on the line during this match.

This was not the first time the two had shared the ring. They faced off last year at NJPW STRONG Resurgence in a semifinal matchup during the tournament to crown the inaugural Strong Women's Champion.

During their first encounter, Mercedes Moné came out on top, but she suffered an injury in the final match of the tournament against Willow Nightingale, which cost her a chance to be the champion.

She also came out on top over Stephanie Vaquer tonight, but not without a fight. It seemed as if Vaquer was in control for the majority of the match.

In the end, an opportunity opened up for the AEW star to hit her Moné Maker finisher and combo this with an immediate transition to her signature Crossface submission hold, which was enough to make her opponent tap out.

Mercedes Moné is now the first woman in AEW to become a double champion, holding gold from both All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
