John Cena has had a lengthy pro wrestling career. He is one of the top stars in the business today, but he had to prove himself inside the ring to cement his status as a main event act.

When The Chain Gang Soldier made his debut on WWE's main roster in 2002, he began feuding with Chris Jericho, who was already a big star. Cena wrestled a few matches against The Demo God on SmackDown but got his big break at Vengeance 2002, which also marked his pay-per-view debut. He secured a massive win over Jericho, despite being relatively new to the main roster.

In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, former World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho revealed that he went against Vince McMahon to put The Cenation Leader over. Y2J said he wanted to give a young Cena a push in the company.

"If it was me, I would say, 'Dude put the guy over.' I mean, I called Vince [McMahon] the first time I worked with John Cena on a pay-per-view and said Vince let me put him over. Vince asked, 'Why?' I replied, 'Because I think he should go over.' He said, 'That guy doesn't have anything. He's got nothing that impresses me.' I was like, 'Just let me put him over.' So I put him over." John Cena announcement sold more tickets for Royal Rumble 2025

John Cena started his farewell tour on Monday Night RAW's Netflix premiere. During the show, he announced his participation in this year's men's Royal Rumble match. WrestleTix on X recently shared some interesting stats revealing that WWE had already sold 53,369 out of a total of 56,265 tickets for the show.

The Cenation Leader's addition to the event is seemingly a major factor behind the impressive numbers. WWE has sold 3112 tickets in the past week alone.

The post also highlighted that John Cena has been a top draw in business for years and has significantly boosted ticket sales whenever he has appeared at a premium live event.
