AEW and NJPW presented the third annual Forbidden Door event this past weekend. Eric Bischoff is no stranger to the All Elite Wrestling product, and the veteran recently shared an interesting suggestion after blasting top stars for what happened at the pay-per-view.
Forbidden Door was a big night for The Elite. The second match of the main card saw Kazuchika Okada, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson win a 13-minute match over Hiroshi Tanahashi and The Acclaimed's Max Caster and Anthony Bowens. Later on, Jack Perry captured the vacant AEW TNT Championship by winning the 17-minute Ladder Match over Mark Briscoe, Konosuke Takeshita, El Phantasmo, Lio Rush, and Dante Martin. The Scapegoat later made a divisive accusation against the AEW locker room. Bischoff reviewed the match shortly after it happened on Sunday night, and he did not hold back.
Bischoff used some harsh language to review The Elite's Forbidden Door win on the latest episode of his 83 Weeks podcast. The WWE Hall of Famer said the trios match wasn't even good enough for WCW Saturday Night when the show was revamped in 1992. He accused AEW's Continental Champion and World Tag Team Champions of doing worse than just phoning it in.
"It was the sh**s. If we would've shot that on WCW Saturday Night back in 1992... and it was a taped show, we would've either re-shot it or not aired it. That was fu****g horrible. These guys are supposed to be the best? These are representative of the company where the best wrestle? That match su*ked. They did not give a s**t, they didn't even phone it in... they yelled it from across the parking lot. It was so bad. Am I the only one? Maybe I'm wrong, maybe there was something going on there I just didn't see... that match was horrible," Eric Bischoff said. [From 23:19 to 24:17]
Bischoff's co-host Conrad Thompson said he initially had high hopes for The Elite's AEW takeover storyline. It was also noted how Okada was once presented as a special talent, but now he should be transitioned out of the faction. Thompson stated how he understands the storyline has been "fun and funny," but Bischoff quickly offered his opinion, declaring that the heels should be office workers.
"Nah, it's not even funny. Put The Elite... give them an actual office job. Teach them how to work a computer, get coffee, or do some s**t in the office that's actually an office job because they su*k on TV right now. I don't know what the attraction is with these guys, but I didn't see it tonight. They look like they haven't been in a gym in 6 months. The work was sloppy, it was just slightly better than average work," Eric Bischoff said. [From 25:17 to 25:50]
Okada facing off with Tanahashi was a highlight of Sunday's trios match. Billy Gunn ended up saving the NJPW executive from a post-match attack by his longtime friend and rival.
