WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has competed against some of the best in the wrestling business. Da Man recently revealed that he contemplated retiring against his former WCW rival, Sting.

The face-painted star was forced into retirement after his infamous match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions in 2015.

Almost nine years later, The Vigilante rode off into the sunset undefeated in AEW after he and Darby Allin successfully retained their world tag team titles against The Young Bucks at Revolution. Prior to his final swansong, there were some rumblings about Goldberg being interested in getting involved in Sting's retirement tour.

However, that never came to fruition as the former Universal Champion had no intentions of joining All Elite Wrestling. The 57-year-old stalwart thinks his impending final match doesn't necessarily need to be under the WWE or AEW umbrella.

Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Goldberg was asked if he has any ideal opponents in his mind for his retirement match. The WWE legend said he was hoping to face Sting at one point but didn't want to hog the spotlight:

“Man, I’ll be honest with you. I have no idea. I haven’t even thought about it, not for two seconds. I was trying to shuffle it to where it was Sting. Over the past couple of years with his retirement, you know, but I didn’t want to take away from Sting and his whole deal. I have no business being anywhere near that because I don’t deserve to be. It’s all about him, and therefore he wasn’t an option because of that.”

WWE Superstar open to facing Goldberg

WWE Superstar Karrion Kross recently entertained the idea of facing Goldberg.

A fan asked The Herald of Doomsday about wanting to see him against Da Man in a dream match. Kross said he would do it in a heartbeat if gets the chance.

On the other hand, former WWE Superstar Ryback continues to call out The Icon. The Big Guy recently expressed his desire to face The Myth in Las Vegas, which is set to host the 41st edition of WrestleMania next year.
