A new report has surfaced suggesting that a major AEW show may be canceled soon. Fans on X/Twitter have weighed in on the situation.
AEW Rampage debuted in August 2021. It was a massive step forward for the company as it showed that All Elite Wrestling was growing as a promotion. The first episode of Rampage kicked off in a big way with the return of CM Punk to the world of professional wrestling.
In many ways, Rampage started as a step in the right direction and provided a chance for the company to use its massive roster. Rampage eventually led to a third show called Collision. Despite its initial success, the show's viewership has seemingly dropped in recent times, which is a huge problem considering the company's ongoing media rights deal negotiations.
According to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the Tony Khan-led promotion will not be moving forward with Rampage once its new media rights deal is finalized. Furthermore, the company is planning to sell the rights to the rumored third show "AEW Shockwave" to FOX, among other broadcasters.
After the report surfaced on X/Twitter, fans shared their thoughts on the matter. Some users seemed happy about Rampage potentially being discontinued. Meanwhile, others highlighted how the show didn't add much value to the company.
Bill Apter says one spot from AEW All Out ruined the show for him
AEW All Out has been on everyone's mind ever since the show took place. It invited a lot of controversy, especially because of the unsanctioned steel cage match, which saw several dangerous spots take place.
On Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Senior Editor Bill Apter highlighted several spots from the match that he didn't like. He was especially not pleased with the sequence involving the hypodermic needle being shoved into Swerve Strickland's mouth.
"And then, what did it for me? I've seen this in the indies, and I didn't like it, but for a pay-per-view that anybody could watch, to have the hypodermic needle in Swerve Strickland's mouth ended it for me; [it] ruined the whole pay-per-view. Disgusting!" [5:53-6:51]
It remains to be seen whether this brutal steel cage match was enough to end 'Hangman' Adam Page and Swerve Strickland's feud.
