AEW CEO Tony Khan has reportedly extended a top star's contract with the promotion ahead of rumors of his potential WWE signing. The star in question is none other than Rey Fenix. The fans believe Khan is acting like former WWE President Vince McMahon while handling Fenix's contract situation.

Penta El Zero and Rey Fenix (The Lucha Bros) are two of the top names trending in the wrestling world currently amidst the rumors of their potential WWE debut. The Lucha Bros has been signed to AEW since 2019 and has won the World Tag Team Titles and the World Trios Titles in the promotion. Rey Fenix is also a former International Champion.

However, recent reports have unveiled that Tony Khan is planning to add injury time to Rey Fenix's contract which is said to be up to almost a year. It will be a huge thorn in the duo's side as they were expected to arrive in WWE as a Tag Team. The Lucha Bros have also refused to sign new deals with All Elite Wrestling.

The fans reacted to the huge rumor and claimed that Tony Khan was trying to be like Vince McMahon and holding Rey Fenix hostage. Another fan was disappointed in Khan's actions as he thought an alternative company would have a different approach to the situation.

Fans continued to bash Tony Khan for extending Rey Fenix's contract.

"I thought he wanted to be different from wwe but doing the same thing it ironically," a fan tweeted.
"It was fun while it lasted," another stated.
"So Tony is a piece of garbage that is no better than the evil WWE," this fan claimed.

Vince Russo on AEW's The Lucha Bros coming to WWE

Penta and Rey Fenix's WWE arrival has been heavily rumored ever since the duo reportedly rejected to sign new contracts with AEW.

In a recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo claimed that Penta and Fenix will just be another 50/50 tag team in the company. He said that The Lucha Bros might directly go to the main roster instead of wrestling in NXT.

"I saw them over at AEW for a while," Russo stated. "Bro, they're gonna be another tag team. I mean, what are they gonna do? They're gonna be another 50/50 tag team with all the other 50/50 tag teams. Those guys have been around for a while, haven't they? I couldn't imagine them bringing them through NXT. I mean, bro, don't they need star power in that tag team division?"

It will be interesting to see what Triple H's creative has in plans for the popular tag team if they jump ship to the Stamford-based promotion later this year.
