AEW star Adam Copeland emerged as a major topic of discussion in the wrestling world recently after he seemingly made an unexpected alteration to his in-ring name. WWE legend Matt Hardy has now shared his thoughts on the subject.

The Rated-R Superstar made his shocking return to All Elite programming alongside FTR to confront Jon Moxley and The Death Riders at the conclusion of Worlds End 2024. The trio took on and defeated The One True King of AEW and his allies Claudio Castagnoli and PAC on Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen 2025.

Notably, while making his entrance for the aforementioned bout, the former TNT Champion was introduced as "The Rated-R Superstar, Cope." It appears that the WWE Hall of Famer has shortened his in-ring name, having previously voiced his interest in changing it to a monosyllabic name similar to that of his character in the Stamford-based company, Edge.

One of Copeland's most iconic rivals from WWE, Matt Hardy, recently shared his two cents on the subject. Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, The Broken One commented:

"I mean, I know, I think coming in that's what he wanted to do. He wanted to get something similar to Edge, right. [...] You know, it's different. He's always gonna be Edge to me. No doubt about it. But I get that they're trying to rebrand him in some certain fashion. I don't hate it." [1:22 to 2:01]

Hardy, who left AEW last year, currently holds the TNA World Tag Team Championship with his brother Jeff in total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Adam Copeland has big plans in AEW

Adam Copeland talked about his future goals in All Elite Wrestling while speaking to the press during the Worlds End 2024 media scrum.

The Ultimate Opportunist indicated that both he and FTR were keen to pursue championship gold, and teased going after Jon Moxley and his AEW World Title himself.

"If you can think of a goal, that's what we're going after. They should be Tag Team Champions, I think we should win the Trios Championships, I'm going after the World Heavyweight Championship. [...] So my plan is to go after Jon Moxley in a match that we've never seen before between two guys who are at the top of their field and go out there and do what we do," Copeland said.

Copeland may have proclaimed himself to be more dangerous than The Purveyor of Violence, but it remains to be seen if he has the goods to dethrone the self-proclaimed King of All Elite Wrestling.
