AJ Styles hasn't been seen on WWE television for the past few months. With reports of his contract expiring soon, fans have given their thoughts on his future.
AJ Styles is arguably one of the best in-ring wrestlers in the world. When he first signed with WWE in 2016, he was immediately pushed into the main-event spot where he competed for and even won the WWE Championship.
Over the next few years, Styles would continue his run as a main-event star. However, his career has taken a massive downturn in the last two years. His last run was back in 2021 when he won the RAW Tag Team Championship with Omos. Even his recent heel turn did little for him as he was taken off television after his feud with Cody Rhodes.
Since Clash at the Castle, he hasn't been seen on television although he has competed at house shows. Recently, Fightful Select reported that Styles' contract was set to expire later this year or early next year.
Fans immediately flocked to social media to give their thoughts on The Phenomenal One's future in the company. Check out some of the reactions below:
Tommy Dreamer reveals a private conversation he had with AJ Styles ahead of their first match
AJ Styles first made a name for himself in TNA Wrestling where he was considered the face of the promotion. During his time in TNA, he got to compete against some of the best wrestlers in the industry, including Tommy Dreamer.
During a recent episode of The Master's Class podcast on Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer mentioned how important it was for an aging star to be open and honest with younger talent when working with them. He also revealed a conversation he had with Styles ahead of their first match:
"Honesty. It's not holding on to your spot. It's having value while endorsing new talent while keeping yourself a top talent. Randy Orton is a phenomenal example of using a veteran to their peak... I can talk from experience. I've talked about it before, me going to TNA, my first opponent was AJ Styles. I have to be honest with AJ. 'AJ, this means everything to me but I also have to, I'm not the performer that I was,'" Dreamer said. [1:37 - 2:25]
It will be interesting to see if AJ Styles will renew his contract with WWE given his recent booking.
