As soon as Buddy Matthews joined AEW, he was included as part of Malakai Black's faction - the House of Black. Since then, the group has wreaked havoc on the AEW roster and also attained the AEW Trios Championship.

Despite being regularly booked to compete on AEW television, it seems that Buddy Matthews has tried to leave the promotion. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is now reporting that Matthews tried to leave AEW but his request was rejected by Tony Khan because he didn't want the Aussie star to join WWE. Vince Russo says Tony Khan can't be a nice guy

Although Tony Khan has received his fair share of heat from a lot of wrestling fans and critics for the way he has run his company. However, his roster of wrestlers has almost always had nice things to say about their boss. This is due to Tony's kind-hearted nature.

Speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, Vince Russo mentioned that Tony is a "nice guy" which is a problem in itself because he can't be nice in the wrestling business:

"Tony Khan seems like a hell of a nice guy bro. He really really does. Dixie Carter, EC3 will tell you, was a hell of a nice woman. Thus lies the problem. It's hard to be that nice and be in the wrestling business. That is the problem bro. That's why man, I never, I don't have a problem with Tony Khan's personality... We have fun with him at the scrums and all that stuff. But you know genuinely, bro, everybody that works for him has nothing but nice things to say about the dude," he said [5:44 onwards]
