Following heavy speculation lately, a veteran has claimed that Tony Khan should sign a former WWE Superstar to benefit AEW. This would be Bill Apter talking about Shane McMahon.
Recently, sources have reported on a meeting between Shane O'Mac and Khan, with a photograph even being shown. Although the details weren't disclosed, this has just fed speculation of the WWE veteran heading to AEW.
On the latest edition of Rings and Rambles, Sportskeeda Senior Editor Bill Apter mentioned that Tony Khan's hiring of Shane McMahon would immediately have a positive impact on the company.
"If AEW brought him in, it would be an immediate uppage in everything that's going on with them. Because right now I was talking to several people about this today, they don't have that one guy-grabber right now. If you talk about WWE, you got five guys that are household wrestling names." The veteran later discussed how Shane's experience in all areas of the business could help them and make him a valuable asset to AEW.
"Remember, he's got a whole history in WWE, knowing how that company ran from social media to the magazine, to working with the boys, to how the whole corporate structure ran back then. So he's a very valuable commodity if AEW would actually make a deal and bring him in," Apter said. [19:03-19:34]
A WWE veteran has urged Tony Khan to sign Shane McMahon
WWE legend Lex Luger recently talked about Tony Khan possibly bringing in Shane McMahon to AEW.
While on the Busted Open Radio, he urged Khan to proceed, citing how Shane would benefit all areas of the company and was a great idea.
"100%. I think he [Khan] should do it. I feel that with the way the wrestling business, with all its different platforms, and they way it's exploding like we've never seen before, absolutely, 100%. I think it [would] be a great idea to bring Shane in," Luger said.
At this point, all that remains is to see whether Shane will come in and in what capacity he will work with Tony Khan. He may just be the missing piece in making things look brighter for the promotion.
