Hikaru Shida suffered a major defeat at AEW All Out 2024. It was a heartbreaking moment for the Japanese star, but she found a silver lining in the presence of her mother.
Shida challenged Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship at AEW All Out in Chicago. The two fought for just over 16 minutes, dishing out every bit of offense they had in an effort to walk out with the gold. Hikaru Shida has plenty of experience in title matches, being a three-time AEW Women's World Champion, but she wasn't able to get the job done at the pay-per-view.
Mone claimed victory once again and left the Japanese star lying in the ring. But amid Shida's heartbreak, she spotted her mother, who was watching from the crowd. The 36-year-old took to X/Twitter today with an emotional message for the fans who supported her in her mom's presence:

"From inside the ring, I found my mom was staring me in the crowds after finished the match. That made last night so special even I lost. Thank you for showing my mom your big supports!! #AEWAllOut #AEW," Shida wrote.

Hikaru Shida has had an up-and-down run in AEW lately
Hikaru Shida is one of the most prominent talents in All Elite Wrestling's women's division. The Japanese star still holds the record for most days as AEW Women's World Champion across her three reigns, but she hasn't had an easy go of it lately.
Shida was defeated by Mariah May in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament earlier this year, nixing her shot at a fourth World title reign. She managed to gain some momentum against Skye Blue after that but came up short at Dynamite: Blood & Guts against the returning Britt Baker.
Dr. Baker was nervous to meet Shida in the ring after being out of action for so long. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, she intimated just how intimidating Hikaru is:
"So wait, I didn’t just have a return match. They [AEW] threw me into the fire. They said, 'Here, your first match back, you’re gonna wrestle the longest-reigning Women’s Champion ever, [Hikaru] Shida!' So I was so nervous for that match," Baker said.
It's unclear where Hikaru Shida stands following All Out, as Mone still reigns as the TBS Champion while the maniacal Mariah May holds the Women's World title. However, the Japanese star has never let a loss get her down for long, so fans will likely see her bounce back sooner rather than later.
