The Undertaker has made headlines with his recent remarks regarding AEW. The Phenom shared several interesting comments regarding the Tony Khan-led promotion and its position in the industry in relation to WWE.
Since its foundation, AEW has emerged as one of the leading pro wrestling promotions in the US and as a potential competitor to WWE. Both companies have exchanged talent and taken shots at each other, although the Jacksonville-based promotion arguably will need more time to catch up with the sports entertainment juggernaut in terms of profitability, ticket sales, ratings, and several other metrics.
One of WWE's most iconic figures, The Undertaker, recently shared his two cents on All Elite Wrestling on his podcast, Six Feet Under With Mark Calaway. The Phenom voiced his hope that AEW will improve on its product and generate viable competition against the Stamford-based promotion. He argued that such competition would result in both companies bettering their programming.
“Hopefully, a lot of people don't think the way I do but hopefully one day AEW gets their c*** together and genuinely creates some competition... That's probably not a popular take from most WWE insiders but the way I look at it, competition's only gonna make, it's only gonna make you better." [H/T Fightful]
In one of his last major appearances, the WWE Hall of Famer chokeslammed The Rock to foil his interference in the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL.
The Undertaker shared his views on Tony Khan running AEW
The Undertaker recently expressed his views on AEW President Tony Khan and his work as the head honcho of All Elite Wrestling, suggesting that the 41-year-old sports executive may not be the best person for the job.
Speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, The Deadman took a massive shot at Tony Khan, claiming that while the latter's heart may be in the right place, Khan lacked the ability to manage a wrestling company successfully, especially in competition against WWE.
"I agree with you. I don't think there is a real true leader in the locker room. And I don't, I am not sure... I have nothing against the man you know but I don't know that Tony is the guy to run the company. I mean his heart's in a good place and he wants to do something but I just don't know that he has the acumen to run a wrestling company against the juggernaut that is the WWE," said The Undertaker.
All Elite Wrestling will present the 2024 edition of the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30 at Long Island, New York.
