A blockbuster match has just been announced for tomorrow night's episode of AEW Dynamite. This will be a first-ever number-one contender match with pay-per-view implications.
The Casino Gauntlet match has been one of AEW's unique matches, and it has gotten fans buzzing again. The gauntlet match features no limit to the number of wrestlers who can come out, with the contest only ending when a pinfall occurs. Next week at Maximum Carnage, the first women's edition of the match is set to take place.
Tony Khan has just announced that a three-way bout will take place tomorrow night on Dynamite to determine who earns the advantageous number-one spot in the match. Toni Storm, Kris Statlander, and Willow Nightingale will be vying for this. Khan also announced earlier today that the winner of next week's contest will earn a Women's World Title shot at Grand Slam: Australia.
"TOMORROW, 1/8 Clarksville, TN Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite 8pm ET/7pm CT, TBS + Max. Winner Gets #1 Spot Next Wednesday at Maximum Carnage in Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match. 3 Way Match @callmekrisstat vs. Toni Storm vs. @willowwrestles. Don’t miss Wednesday Night Dynamite TOMORROW!" Khan posted.

An AEW Men's Casino Gauntlet match is set to take place tomorrow night
AEW will also run the men's edition of the match, with this taking place tomorrow night. The winner of the contest will earn a shot at Jon Moxley's world championship next week at Maximum Carnage.
Last week, Swerve Strickland, Jay White, and Roderick Strong faced off for the number one spot in the Casino Gauntlet match. It was The Switchblade who walked out with the victory.
Swerve was a favorite to win the match, but he was blindsided by Ricochet, and this allowed White to isolate Strong and go for the win. He now has a huge advantage heading into next week's match with an unknown number of entrants lined up. He'll certainly want to end the match right from the get-go at the earliest.
As seen in the past few editions of the match, the man at the number of spot has not ended up as the winner. During the last Casino Gauntlet match at All In, it was Christian Cage who took the win, and he came out second to last.
