A huge accusation has been made against Samoa Joe amid his AEW hiatus and this one will need some explaining. Things are sure to get heated up over this.
The former AEW World Champion has not been seen in the company since July 2024 when he was taken out by Chris Jericho after losing a stampede street fight. Joe was removed from the arena in an ambulance and, since then, he has been busy shooting for the second season of Twisted Metal.
Exactly on this day one year ago, Samoa Joe defeated Tony Nese to retain the Ring of Honor World Television Championship. Now, Nese’s manager Mark Sterling has come out and accused Joe of cheating.
Taking to X, he said:
“Tony actually won this match via DQ when I proved to the local athletic commission that Joe wore shorts that were not regulation in the state. Big time cheater Joe is!”
Samoa Joe says Ring of Honor is his most favorite promotion
Samoa Joe has worked around the world and also for the biggest wrestling companies in the country. He wrestled on the independent scene and then worked for the majority of his time in TNA where he made his name.
He then moved to WWE and won a few titles before joining AEW where he also wrestles in Ring of Honor. He was recently asked at Terrificon which was his favorite promotion out of all the ones he worked for.
Without hesitation, the former WWE star said:
"If it was really gun against my head for an answer, ROH, but it was only because I was so hands on in everything that was there."
That answer should not surprise anyone as he has a lot of history with Ring of Honor. He has won a host of titles there including the World, Pure, and the Television championships, to name a few.
