Tony Khan recently discussed a potential sequel to AEW's first-ever video game, Fight Forever. He claimed that there were still many opportunities for the company in that area.
In June 2023, the promotion released Fight Forever. This would end up being their counter to WWE's 2K series, which is the current leader in wrestling games in the industry. However, it immediately got mixed reviews following the release and was miles away from its competitor.
During an interview on the Mr. Wright Way YouTube Channel, Tony Khan mentioned that Fight Forever was a great start for them and that they were still planning to put out more games. He mentioned that there were still so many wrestlers they could include.
"It was a great first entry with AEW Fight Forever, and people can still play Fight Forever all over the world. I think eventually absolutely we’ll still keep putting AEW games into the world. But right now we’re fully supporting that and we’re excited about it, there’s still more wrestlers and exciting things happening with the game and a lot of opportunities in the world of gaming," Khan noted. AEW possibly set to make major changes after Fight Forever
Fight Forever did not find much success in the game department, as this did not reach fans' expectations.
In September, it was reported that the company may majorly change all its future game developments. According to Insider Gaming, All Elite Wrestling is looking to work with a new game developer, seeing as their past project was lackluster.
However, it was also noted that they could continue to work with Yuke, seeing as they have an existing partnership. Sources internally mentioned that the decision may be left to Tony Khan.
It remains unclear what the company's direction regarding future game releases will be, but Tony Khan seems open to continuing with video game development.
