The Hurt Syndicate had shown interest in expanding the faction since its AEW debut, and one of the first people the members had reached out to was Ricochet. However, the stable has seemingly withdrawn the offer, as was hinted this week on Dynamite: Holiday Bash.
As soon as announcer Tony Schiavone brought up recent changes in the conduct and mannerisms of The One and Only during their interview in the ring, The Hurt Syndicate made its presence felt on the December 18 episode of AEW Dynamite. MVP and Bobby Lashley stepped inside the squared circle alongside Shelton Benjamin, who was scheduled to face The Beast Mortos in a Continental Classic bout later on the show.
Throughout the segment, Ricochet tried to ingratiate himself with the former Hurt Business members, mentioning his recent C2 victories and attempting to be included in the decorated group. MVP then asked to see the card he had handed The Human Highlight Reel many weeks ago when the latter had refused the offer.
As soon as Ricochet fished out the card, however, his head was roughly grabbed and restrained by Lashley while The Franchise Playa ripped the card to shreds, after which he told the high-flyer off for flattering them. Fortunately, The Hurt Syndicate released The Highlight of The Night afterward, letting him leave the ring unharmed.
MVP and his allies seem no longer interested in bringing Ricochet on as a teammate. It remains to be seen if the latter will be able to defeat Will Ospreay on AEW Christmas Collision later this week.
