A top AEW star recently talked about her importance on TV. The star being discussed is none other than Mariah May.
The Glamour defeated Toni Storm at All In 2024 and started her reign of terror with the AEW Women's World Championship. So far, she has defended it against Nyla Rose, Yuka Sakazaki, Willow Nightingale, and Anna Jay. She will defend her title on this week's Dynamite as she faces Mina Shirawakawa on the special 'Winter Is Coming' episode.
Since capturing the top spot, the AEW Women's World Champion has been criticized for her run. However, the young star doesn't seem to be sinking despite being criticized as she gave befitting answers to her doubters.
While speaking with Close Up with Renee Paquette, Mariah May claimed she is one of the best stars on AEW TV. The world champion also stated that she is more entertaining than most male stars on the roster.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
“The best. I’m more entertaining than half of the men in that locker room. I deserve the TV time, and what I’m doing to do is what I’ve always done and keep showing up every single week as the Women’s World Champion, in my rookie year, by the way, and keep being the biggest star in this company. I don’t have to be paid the most. I don’t have to be given the most. I am the best, and I prove it, week in, week out," May said. [H/T - Fightful]
Mercedes Mone has eyes on Mariah May's AEW Women's World Championship
The CEO is currently a double champion, holding the TBS Championship and NJPW Strong Women's Championship. Recently, she teased adding a third belt to her name.
While speaking with Uproxx Sports, Mercedes Mone praised The Glamour and said she wants to capture Mariah May's title.
"She is our women’s world champion, beating Toni Storm in one of the best storylines in women’s history. To see her rise this fast and to see how good she is in the ring, it’s so incredible. Like I said, we have the best women’s division in the game right now. I’m definitely looking at the title that she has around her waist,” she said.
It will be interesting to see if Mariah May retains her title against Mina Shirakawa this Wednesday.
