"I couldn't be more excited" - Adam Cole on 8-time champion quietly leaving WWE for AEW

AEW star Adam Cole recently shared his thoughts on a multi-time champion making the switch from Stamford to Jacksonville. Cole heaped praise on the talented wrestler and said that his acquisition was not only a personal win but a victory for the entire company.

The star in question is Roderick Strong, who made a surprise debut on the April 26th episode of Dynamite. He made a run-in to save his former Undisputed Era teammate from a beatdown by the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Given the history Cole and Strong share from their time in NXT, it should come as no surprise that The Panama City Playboy is over the moon to have his friend by his side. On a recent episode of Sports Guys Talk Wrestling, Cole said the following:

“I couldn't be more excited. He's one of my best friends in the entire world. He's one of the best pound-for-pound in-ring pro wrestlers on the planet. To have Roddy Strong with us in AEW is not only a win for me, but it's a win for AEW." [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

What's next for Roderick Strong remains to be seen. However, for the time being, he is expected to continue helping out his long-time comrade in their quest to topple the JAS.

Roderick Strong joins a long list of AEW signings

Roderick Strong's surprise signing is not an anomaly for Tony Khan's promotion, which has gone about adding a long list of talented names to their already large roster in 2023.

Jay White, Komander, Skye Blue, Taya Valkyrie, and Mark Briscoe all put pen to paper this year, along with others. Announcers Nigel McGuinness and Alvaro Riojas have also joined the team.

One major concern is whether they will have enough space to showcase all of these stars. Nonetheless, these are exciting times for fans of the promotion.
