AEW Dynamite's ratings have been particularly poor in recent weeks. A former WCW Champion has now commented on the show's underwhelming ratings.
Vince Russo is a well known personality in the wrestling business. He worked for WWE back in the day as a writer before moving on to WCW, where he was also involved in the creative side of the business. During his time in WCW, he gained a lot of prominence due to his onscreen presence.
AEW's ratings have taken a downturn in recent weeks, with the company securing its lowest viewership of all time recently. Vince Russo gave his thoughts on the situation on a recent episode of Sportskeeda's WrestleBinge podcast. He mentioned that his job was to deliver ratings and if the ratings dropped under his watch, then he would've been fired.
"It would have never got to that point. It would have never gotten to that point. At the time, if there was a significant drop, I would have been bro...not...you know losing three times. I would have been gone way before that bro way before and bro, that's the thing man when I had all my jobs in creative, I knew I didn't deliver ratings bro, I expected to go because that was my job to get ratings and if I did not get those ratings then yeah bro I should be fired." Billy Gunn says Chuck Palumbo has "no desire" to appear in AEW
Chuck Palumbo made a name for himself in WCW before eventually moving onto WWE. During his time in the Stamford-based promotion, Palumbo formed a pretty good tag team with Billy Gunn. Together, the two men even captured the WWE Tag Team Championships twice.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Billy Gunn spoke on the possibility of his friend showing up in AEW. Gunn said that Palumbo has so many things going on in his life that he has "no desire" to return to wrestling at the moment.
"He just has no desire right now. He has all his other stuff going on. I've asked him to do a couple of things. He just, it’s not that he won't do it for me, it's just not him anymore. The boys wanted him to come to my birthday celebration when we did the birthday thing. I called and asked him and he's got so much other stuff going on that he's okay that he doesn't do any of the wrestling, and I get it." [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]
It will be interesting to see if AEW will be able to increase its ratings given the stars that they have hired in recent months.
